The Dog our Friend

Published by yellowbird at 2:53 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Today we are have to put our oldest dog to sleep.    She has been with us for about 11 years.   She is a cocker with big brown eyes.   She has long eye lashes.  She is  blond with a little bit of red in her.    A very pretty dog.  She can hardly walk, and its difficult for her to get up.   Today I was eating peanut clusters, and there she was.   So I gave her  a bite of one.   She has a true love for chocolate.   One time a few years ago somebody brought me a box of chocolates and I put them on the table and left.   When I came back my dog  was on the table and ate the whole box.   She looked at me as if to say “I have your whole box and I did nothing wrong”.   One time at christmas I got a box of chocolates wrapped up under the tree.   Sandi unwrapped the package and I went to pick it up.  Sure enough, it was a box of chocolates.   She always knows when there is a box of chocolates around.    Now she has no teeth to eat, but she will pick up a chocolate and roll it around in her mouth untill she eats it.

We will have many memories of our dog.    We have a little dog, a pomeranian,  that is much younger.   He too will suffer the loss of his best friend.   I’m not sure that they have dogs in heaven, but I want to believe they do.  I want to believe that dogs will be running around with my family that she knew and loved while they were with us  in this life.

I’m so sorry. Losing an animal is like losing a member of the family.
