The Faith of a Little One

Published by yellowbird at 2:20 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Before I was married I lived with my parents at home.  My brother had two girls.  When they were little I had the priviledge of taking them to sunday school and church with me.  This was very interesting.  They really enjoyed their experience at sunday school and church. They would sit at church and have the songbook turned to the right page.  One day we were leaving church and the youngest said to me: “aunt Pattie,”  .  I was getting into the car from my wheelchair at the time.  She was very insistent about speaking to me.  “What?”  I said.   ‘When people die we’re not supposed to cry, are we?”  I was taken back a little by this comment.  I said “We cry because we wont see them for a long time.”  She responded, with her big brown eyes looking up at me:”no, we dont cry because they go to live with Jesus, and thats the best.”  And so she was very insitent about going to church and learning about Jesus.  Her and her sister would look out the window while driving home and  say:’Look at the big angel in the sky”.  I would say:  ” I don’t see it, but we know they are up there”.

Three years later the youngest niece would contract hodgkins disease, a cancer of the lymph glands.  She was very very ill in the hospital.  Her daddy was trying to get her to eat.  She said to him “Daddy, I cant eat, but dont worry, I’ve been saved.”  In July of that year we lost her.  She went to live with her Jesus.

The years went by, and now I have lost my brother,my dad and my mom.

It  is hard for me today to  be without my family, but I remember what my niece said:  “We shouldnt cry because they go to live with Jesus, and that is the best”.  Every morning I ask God: “Why am I here, and not with them?”  But I know I have a purpose here, and I ask Him to guide me in that purpose.  I am sure that He wants me to go on.  He has given me my husband, and I still have my other niece.  I feel that He is guiding all his believers  everyday in the way He wants us to go.
